Issuance of the TDS certificate (Form 16A)

TDS certificate is a certificate of tax deduction of source (TDS) by the deductor to the deductee specifying therein the prescribed particulars like amount of TDS, permanent account number (PAN), tax deduction and collection account number (TAN) etc.

The relevant form for such TDS certificate is Form 16 in case of deduction under section 192 (Salary)  and Form 16A for deduction under any other provisions of chapter XVII-B of the Act.

TDS certificate in Form 16 is to be issued annually whereas TDS certificate in Form 16A is to be issued quarterly.

Last date for issuance of the TDS certificate (Form 16A) for Quarter 1 of FY: 2013-14 is 30th July, 2013

Delay in issuing certificates will involve a fine of Rs. 100 per day subject to an upper limit of the tax deducted.  Click here for more details

As per Circular No. 01/2012 dated 09.04.2012, it mandatory for all deductors to issue TDS certificate in Form No. 16A after generating and downloading the same from TRACES website.

One can use TDSMAN software for easy downloading of TDS certificate from TRACES website.

  1. Dear Sir,

    We have filed correction TDS statement and 1st Quarter TDS statement on 15.07.2013. Both the statements are not processed by Traces till today i.e. 02.01.2014. Please guide us in this matter as soon as possible.

  2. We have filed Quarterly TDS Return in Form No 26Q on 15.07.2013. Which is accepted as per status on TIN website. But Return has not been processed by TRACES till today i.e. 14.08.2013.

    We have sent several e-mails to TRACES at contactus@tdscpc.gov.in. But no reply is received till date. Only system generated e-mail received from TRACES for attending problem. Also we have tried to contact customer care number of TRACES, but call has not been attend.

    Please advice us for further action to be taken

    In this situation,

    1. Dear Sir,

      Processing work is done at TRACES end only. Nevertheless, you can download the consolidated statement file from the TRACES website to see if there is any discrepancy in the file.

  3. sir i can not login on to the traces website ,i also tried to recover password through forgot password option ,but was not able to do it ,even though i had all required details . pls help wht to do

    1. DHANAHJAY ,First of all you check your Loginid, whether it is correct. If your login id is correct than you go to the forgot password option available on trces website and fill all details correctly viz. TAN No, challan S.No BSR code,PAn details of the challan you have entered in details.
